What does a water pump do?
A water pump is like a "powerhouse" that applies pressure to water. Its core task is to get water moving, such as pumping water from a low to a high location, from a low-pressure area to a high-pressure area, or circulating water through pipes.
How does a water pump work?
Most common water pumps (such as centrifugal pumps) operate much like a washing machine spin dryer:
Suction: The impeller inside the pump rotates at high speed, creating suction at the inlet, drawing water in.
Extraction: The water is carried by the impeller and, under the influence of centrifugal force, is flung at high speed toward the outlet, increasing its speed and pressure.
Discharge: The high-pressure water is pushed out of the outlet, into a pipe, and delivered to where it is needed.
Common Types of Water Pumps
Centrifugal Pumps: The most commonly used type, used in booster pumps and tap water supplies. They offer uniform flow and a wide range of applications.
Submersible Pumps: The entire pump can be submerged in water, such as for pumping water from fish ponds or deep wells. Pipeline pumps: These pumps are installed directly on pipes to increase the pressure of water within them, such as in air conditioning water circulation.

Domestic uses: household water supply, hot water circulation, and toilet flushing.
Agricultural uses: farmland irrigation and watering.
Industrial uses: factory cooling and liquid transport.
